Scanning Slit Profilers XYZθɸ

A radically different approach to real-time beam profiling.

When selecting a laser beam profiler, there are several basic questions to be answered:

  • Wavelength(s) Do I need a broad wavelength range system or a limited spectrum?
  • Beam Diameter Is my beam small (a few microns) or is it larger, in the mm range?
  • Power/Energy Am I dealing with µW/µJ, mW/mJ, or higher? Do I need attenuation/sampling?
  • Accuracy What measurement accuracy do I need?
  • CW or Pulsed or beam Do I have a CW (continuous) output or a pulsed beam? If pulsed what PRR?

Next, what measurements are needed?

  • Beam Diameter(s)?
  • Beam XY Position, Wander?
  • Beam XYZ Focus Position?
  • Beam Divergence, Pointing?
  • Beam Shape (Gaussian, TopHat, Line Projection)?
  • Beam Quality (e.g. M2 Propagation Parameter, Uniformity)?

The answer to these questions will help narrow the selection of profilers that will best measure your beam.

Scanning slit profiling systems offer the high resolution that may be required for very small beams below a few tens of microns, and cover wavelength ranges not available in reasonably priced camera systems. While they do not give an image of the beam, in many cases XY or XYZΘΦ profiling is all that is required

Laser 2000 works in partnership with DataRay Inc. to offer a wide range of products and services designed to deliver high-quality, affordable, and reliable instrumentation to the photonics industry. Product lines include CMOS and VOx microbolometer based beam profiling cameras (covering wavelength range 190 nm to 16 μm, model-dependent), and scanning slit beam profilers (covering wavelength range 190 nm to 2.5 μm, model-dependent).

The DataRay advantage:

  • Broad applications – Products featuring: 0.1 µm best resolution; 2 µm minimum diameter; beam dimensions to 25 mm; SuperSpeed USB 3.0
  • Wide bandwidth – DataRay’s product portfolio covers wavelengths from deep UV to FIR
  • No hidden costs of ownership – All DataRay beam profiling systems include a 3-year warranty (unless otherwise stated); any necessary servicing within this period is at no charge, including parts and labour (excluding damage by customer)
  • ISO 11146 compliant beam profiling – DataRay uses XY plane scanning slit motions which strictly comply with the standard’s requirement for a slit or knife-edge scan to be made in a plane perpendicular to the propagation axis
  • Free, user-friendly software – Fully functional and versatile software with unlimited installs and free downloadable updates for the life of your product

What's New?

We’ve recently refreshed our website, and we hope that you will find the changes to be a big improvement. We’ve worked hard to make it easier to navigate the site, and to find exactly what you need from among our vast and diverse range of products.

Missing e-commerce?

One thing that we’ve not carried over from the previous site at this time is the facility to order online for a select range of our products, which you may have been used to in the past. “Off-the-shelf” items represent a small part of our product range; most often a purchase requires a more in-depth discussion between our sales team and the customer to match the right product to the user’s application. For this reason we have focussed on making it as easy as possible to request a quotation from our sales team.

Please rest assured that we will get back to you with pricing promptly, and will work with you to make sure the products you buy are exactly what you need. Once you’re ready to order, our sales team will work through the process with you, to make it as seamless as possible.

Once you’ve selected all the items you’re interested in, by clicking “Add to Quote” on the product page, just click “View Quote Request List” or the icon in the top navigation bar, check your list, set quantities, complete your details and submit the form. Our sales team will respond by email, in a timely manner.

If you have any other questions in the meantime, please get in touch directly.
