Measurement of photoluminescence (PL) spectra from semiconductor materials is an important characterisation method and is widely accepted for providing information on carrier doping levels, alloy composition, bandgap and edge effects, etc. The added ability to measure UV Resonance Raman spectra adds specificity and enhanced characterisation of materials. These measurements are important both for research, device characterisation and process monitoring.

Photon Systems Deep UV (DUV) Mini PL 110 Spectrometer provides the most compact and inexpensive instrument available at these wavelengths. Enabling PL and Raman spectra measurement of semiconductor materials with bandgap up to about 5.5 eV corresponding to AlGaN with Al concentrations up over 80%.

The Mini PL 110 Deep UV Photoluminescence Spectrometer is a miniature instrument employing a scanning monochromator with detector with gated boxcar integrator and averager with a nearly 7-decade dynamic range.

Laser 2000 has partnered with Photon Systems to offer the Mini PL 110 DUV photoluminescence spectrometer.

Photon Systems have major collaborations with large pharmaceutical, food, and chemical manufacturing companies (Pfizer, DuPont, DOW, etc.) to develop and supply instruments using these deep UV methods for cleaning validation of manufacturing equipment, product quality testing, as well as product development research.

In addition, Photon Systems has developed several specialised custom instruments for applications to detect trace chemicals and microbial material in very harsh environments from the deep ocean to Antarctica and the Arctic.
