Laser 2000

Microscopy

Laser 2000 aims to provide the best light sources, filters, sample stages & cameras for microscopy applications.
Product Categories

As technology continues to advance, the demands on microscopy increase, driving innovation in component design and manufacture, and encouraging ingenuity in the way in which they are combined. At Laser 2000, our goal is to provide you with the very best light sources, filters, sample stages and cameras, and to provide the advice and knowledge for you to get the very best out of them.

Microscopy Components

Super-resolution & Confocal Modules

The SPINDLE® family of 3D microscope upgrades extend the capabilities of your microscope for nano-scale 3D imaging and sensing.

Lasers for Confocal & Imaging

Vortran Laser Technology manufacture instrument grade laser diode modules and OEM subsystems with long-term power stability, pointing stability, beam quality and ease of use. Typical applications are microscopy such as confocal, FRAP, SPIM, STORM, STED and BioPhotonics such as flow cytometry.

Short Pulse Lasers for Two Photon & Lifetime LED Engines

SPARK Lasers manufacture compact picosecond (ps) and femtosecond (fs) fibre lasers for neuroscience applications, such as two photon (2P) microscopy and high power lasers used in micromachining such as stents and catheters known as Implantable Medical Devices (IMDs).

Picoquant produce picosecond (ps) laser diodes from 375-1990 nm, with average powers up to 450 mW and peak powers up to 1 W.

Microscopy Filters

These optical filters for fluorescence microscopy are hard coated, with a patented construction that gives superior performance. Steeper edges, precise wavelength accuracy and optimised blocking give better contrast and faster measurements, even at UV wavelengths. These filters do not burn out and can be handled and cleaned safely. Their simple structure and hard coating makes them virtually impervious to humidity and temperature induced degradation.

Filter Wheels & Motion Stages

Laser 2000 offers the Zaber range of motorised stages, which combine great precision and accuracy with simple ease of use, along with a wide selection of manual stages and actuators.

Polarisation & Phase Control

Polarisation is the state or behaviour of the transverse electric field of a light wave. Since the electric component of light is measurably affected by interaction of light with matter and energy, the polarisation characteristics of light can provide diagnostic information for a broad range of applications. Remote sensing, solar astronomy, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, and materials analysis are examples of the fields in which polarisation measurements are employed.

Precise control and measurement of polarisation behaviour is necessary to obtain optimal performance from optical components and systems.

Cameras

We provide many high-performance cameras enabling high-quality imaging which maintain a good balance of low readout noise, low dark current, and high quantum efficiency at the optimum level. Provided by our supplier Hamamatsu Photonics.

By pursuing the three elements required for high-quality imaging, they have obtained extensive knowledge of producing our unique and high specification cameras, from sensor development to circuit design.

The back-thinned type sensor adopted by Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. eliminates the photon absorption (loss) by electrodes and realizes a high quantum efficiency of 98 %. Light collection efficiency per pixel is also improved by the on-chip microlens embedded in the back-thinned type sensor.

Microscopy Systems

Fluorescence Microscopes

PicoQuant offers different solutions for time-resolved confocal microscopy. The available systems include single molecule sensitive microscopes with picosecond temporal resolution and super-resolution imaging capabilities as well as upgrade kits for laser scanning microscopes of all major manufacturers that enable time-resolved applications.

Inverted Modular Motorised Microscope Platform

We offer Zaber’s MVR motorized inverted microscope platform which is designed to lower the barriers to automated microscopy. Combining Zaber precision motion control and world-class optics, the MVR microscope platform deliver unparalleled performance and value.

Confocal Microscopes

The RCM rescan super-resolution confocal microscope can be used to achieve image resolution higher than that imposed by the diffraction limit. It is available for both visible wavelengths and NIR wavelengths and offers scanning speeds of up to 4 frames per second. Lateral resolution for the visible is 170 nm and 240 nm for the NIR.

With 25 fps scan speed, the NL5 system allows you to study fast cell dynamics and perform 4D imaging in optimised conditions. The use of low laser powers facilitates long term live-cell imaging such as mouse embryos, zebrafish, and organoids.

QCL-IR Wide-field Microscope

Laser 2000 works in partnership with DRS Saylight Solutions to offer the best IR hyperspectral imaging microscopes.

Fast hyperspectral scan speeds (>7 M spectral points per second) allow live video-rate IR imaging which enables the visualisation of the distribution of compounds or crystallisation processes. With easy-to-use ChemVision software included, multiple file formats are available which integrate into standard chemometric software packages.
