TCSPC and Time Tagging Electronics

We offer a wide range of Time correlated single photon counting devices for varying applications including, single molecule spectroscopy, Time resolved Fluorescence and much more. For more information please contact our experts.

We offer several modules for Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC), Multi-Channel Scaling (MCS), coincidence correlations, or event timing with temporal resolutions between picoseconds and milliseconds. Single channel as well as multichannel versions with either USB or PCIe interface can be provided high quality and reliability.

Time-Tagged Time-Resolved (TTTR) mode allows the recording of individual count events directly to hard disk or computer memory. The timing of each photon is captured as an event record without any early data reduction (such as on-board forming of histograms). This mode is particularly interesting where, e.g., the dynamics in a fluorescence process are to be investigated in depth. The availability of the full timing information permits photon burst identification, which is of great value, e.g., for single molecule spectroscopy in a liquid flow. Other typical applications are Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS) and Burst Integrated Fluorescence Lifetime (BIFL) measurements.

The PicoQuant group was founded in 1996 to develop robust, compact, and easy to use time-resolved instrumentation and systems. Since April 2008 sales and support in North America is handled by PicoQuant Photonics North America Inc. In January 2010, the PicoQuant group was extended by PicoQuant Innovations, which was founded to support the increasing activities in the field of teaching, customer support, and event organization.

Today, PicoQuant is known as a company leading in the field of pulsed diode lasers, time-resolved data acquisition, single photon counting, and fluorescence instrumentation. In 2002, they developed the first commercial ultrasensitive fluorescence microscope that permits measurements on the single molecule level. Their instruments are used all over the world. They help to prepare papers in high-ranking journals as well as carrying out routine quality control and production processes of global industrial players. Starting from traditional time-resolved fluorescence detection in bioanalytics, the range of applications is continuously increasing and includes semiconductor quality control, diffuse optical tomography, quantum information processing, optical detector testing, and telecommunications. Due to their easy to use products, researchers can now focus on their problems in biology, medicine, environmental science, or chemistry without needing a large background in physics, electronics, or optics.
