The ORCA-spark is a fast, low noise, and high-sensitivity digital CMOS camera. At a significantly lower cost, it out-performs Hamamatsu’s popular interline CCD cameras such as the ORCA-R2.
Noise, in particular, can be an overriding factor in many experiments. Fluorescence from your samples can sometimes get lost in a sea of ambient photons, autofluorescence, or even camera readout noise. In addition, fluorescence photons in low-light conditions can become over- or underexposed and, therefore, inaccurately recorded.
The low readout noise (6.6 electrons) and wide dynamic range (5,000:1) afforded by the 2.3 megapixel CMOS sensor means that the ORCA Spark will accurately record fluorescence signals, even in noisy or low-light conditions.
We know it can be challenging to accurately capture fast-moving samples. But this isn’t an issue when imaging with the ORCA-spark. It has a global shutter, and achieves a high-speed readout of 65 frames per second, so you can image fast-moving objects without blurring.
Solutions that balance cost and performance is what we specialise and take pride in at Laser 2000. And with the ORCA-spark, you won’t be disappointed.
Here are some example applications that the ORCA-spark thrives in:
