How many instruments can be run simultaneously?

Moku:Pro users can deploy up to 4 instruments simultaneously in Multi-instrument Mode, while Moku:Go users can deploy 2 instruments simultaneously.

 

How does Multi-instrument Mode work?
Create a customised test system on a single piece of hardware
  • Build custom test configurations on the Moku’s FPGA
  • Chain instruments together to build sophisticated digital signal processing pipelines
  • Hot-swap instruments in and out without interrupting those running in tandem

 

Ultra-low Latency
  • Signals between instruments can be routed through Digital Signal Buses, enabling high data rates with ultra-low latency and no degradation of SNR, that typically would result from the analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog conversions in separate hardware modules or boxes

 

Fast setup times
  • All of the instruments are preconfigured to run together on the FPGA, so complex wiring or coding aren’t required

  • Moku Cloud Compile offers the ability to deploy your custom code alongside instruments in the Moku suite and run them simultaneously

Examples of Purpose Built Systems

Running multiple instruments simultaneously whilst connecting their inputs/outputs allows users to build custom test configurations and sophisticated digital signal processing pipelines. This increases the potential of Moku products and allows for many more specific applications.

Below are some example of systems built using the Multi-instrument Mode:

Multi-Frequency Lock-in Amplifier:
  • Combine multiple Lock-in Amplifiers to provide multi-frequency and multi-harmonic demodulation
  • Suggested instrument combination: 3x Lock-in Amplifier, Oscilloscope

 

Closed Loop Controller:
  • Sub-µs input and output delay enables Moku:Pro to be used as a closed-loop controller even for high-speed applications. Make adjustments and see them reflected in real-time to the monitoring devices
  • Suggested instrument combination: PID Controller, Frequency Response Analyser, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyser

 

Generate and Control Complex Modulated Waveforms:
  • Modulate signals with arbitrary waveforms and easily vary the modulations in real-time. Cascaded modulations are also possible. View, measure, and control your output waveforms simultaneously
  • Suggested instrument combination: Arbitrary Waveform Generator, 2x Waveform Generator, Oscilloscope
