Broadband Light Sources

Innovative LED light sources for fluorescence microscopy.
Product Categories

These broadband light sources are incoherent optical sources, based around LEDs and doped fibre.

The main applications are:

  • Fluorescence Microscopy
  • Time-resolved Fluorescence
  • Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)
  • Photo-reaction lighting
  • Spectroscopy
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Acoustic Sensing
  • Fibre Optic Gyroscopes (FOG)

High Power Single Wavelength LEDs

High power, single precise wavelength LEDs with intensity control.

Kessil’s PR160L LED PhotoReaction Lighting series optimises photochemical reactions by improving speed, yield and efficiency.

CoolLED’s pE-100 series is a family of 20 different single-wavelength fluorescence LED illumination systems, perfect for routine clinical screening, electrophysiology or basic research applications.

Picosecond Pulsed LEDs

Sub-nanosecond pulsed LEDs are ideal excitation sources in spectrometer systems that do not require high spatial resolution.

Eight different LEDs with central wavelengths between 255 nm and 370 nm allow to choose a peak wavelength according to the needs of the application.

Their spectral and timing characteristics are also particularly suitable for biomedical applications, e.g., for the detection of labelled substances as well as naturally fluorescent amino acids like tryptophan or tyrosine.

LED Illumination Systems

Bluebox Optics and CoolLED specialise in the manufacture of illumination sources for fluorescence microscopy.

LEDs are replacing traditional gas discharge lamps as they are more stable, longer lasting, and energy efficient whilst offering superior safety and environmental features.

LED light engines offer multi-wavelength excitation from UV to NIR. The Bluebox Optics Niji has a unique reconfigurable mainframe that allows the user to change LEDs and Optical Filters in minutes.  These systems are for applications where speed is important as no shutter or filter wheel is required.  Optimise your excitation to match your experimental requirements with complete control.

White Light Systems provide a more economical option, where the excitation wavelength is optimised by optical filters within the microscope.

ASE Sources

OEM and benchtop ASE sources for the C band, C&L band and 1-micron band.  Output powers up to 19dBm, with options for gain flattening.

Applications such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Sensing & Spectroscopy

Superluminescent Diodes

nanoplus Superluminescent Diodes designed and characterised to fit your requirements.

Excellent performance at any wavelength from 760 nm to 2900 nm.

MIR LEDs

nanoplus introduces continuous-wave MIR LEDs (also known as ICLEDs) at customized wavelengths. Select any wavelength between 2800 nm and 6500 nm. The substrate-side-emitting devices display higher wall-plug efficiencies and maximum output powers > 1mW than previous MIR LEDs operating in continuous wave at room temperature. Operation in pulsed mode is, as well, possible, for low power consumption. nanoplus MIR LEDs are broadband, incoherent and cost-effective alternatives to lasers for many gas sensing applications in industry and research.
