About Double Helix Optics

Double Helix is a team of top talent from a range of fields coming together to advance discovery and research in precision 3D nano-imaging. They have recognized world experts in super-resolution, first-rate engineers in optics, 3D imaging, software, and advisors from the research and business world. They are experts in their fields, collaborators in others, and excited by discovery.

About the products

The SPINDLE® Family of 3D Microscope Upgrades

They extend the capabilities of your microscope for nano-scale 3D imaging and sensing. It attaches between any widefield microscope and camera and ensures pupil plane alignment to your microscope and objectives with corrective optics. It is available as a single or dual channel with up to four wavelengths with multicolour masks. The bypass mode allows you to revert back to 2D imaging without having to dismantle. It unlocks vast potential when used with other tools and techniques, including STORM, PALM, SOFI, widefield, TIRF, FRET, confocal, and more.

Engineered Phase Masks

With the Phase Masks, you can modify the point spread function (PSF) to capture 3D information, in much greater detail and depth. It allows you to maximise control by giving you a library of phase masks, including Double Helix, Single Helix, Tetrapod, and multicolour designs. The PSF can be altered based on depth range, emission wavelength, signal to noise ratio and optical parameters, therefore you can achieve the ideal balance for your imaging needs. Larger volumes can be imaged therefore minimising or eliminating the time needed for axial stitching. It enables an extended depth of field – up to 10 µm – capturing longer particle tracks that would be lost with other 3D tracking solutions.

3DTRAX™ Software

This software calculated the z position of every particle by running proprietary algorithms to automate 3D localisation. It renders highly precise 3D images with unprecedented depth and resolution for single molecule localisation and tracking. It automates drift correction and provides intuitive plots to preserve the data quality and is available as a FIJI plugin.
